Overview
This 3-day workshop will focus on the role of the Rorschach in forensic practice by presenting a variety of forensic cases, discussing the legal and clinical issues to be addressed in these cases, and showing how information provided by the Rorschach informs and illuminates forensic consultations. The workshop will focus on use of the Rorschach in conjunction with other, relevant assessment methods to consult to attorneys, courts, and other participants at various points in the legal process.
A model will be presented for approaching forensic assessments and consultations, for discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the Rorschach in legal contexts, and considering evidentiary issues pertaining to the admissibility of the Rorschach in court. Case material will be presented from a variety of legal contexts including criminal, immigration, employment, and other civil litigation, as well as assessment of malingering and defensiveness. Discussion of case material will be preceded by a discussion of the relevant legal issues in each case and the contribution Rorschach assessment can make to addressing them, and will demonstrate how to draw legally relevant, sound inferences from the Rorschach, ways to integrate these findings with data from other sources, and present strategies for presenting these findings to attorneys, judges, and trial courts and for weathering challenges to these findings.
