SPAGS - Awards

The EARLY CAREER TRAVEL AWARDS are given annually to encourage and promote the training and education of early career psychologists in personality assessment, as well as participation in and consumption of personality assessment research and scholarly activity at the Annual Meeting. Each year, 10 awards in the amount of $500 will be given to support travel to the Annual Meeting. Applicants do not need to be a presenter at the Annual Meeting or a member of SPA to receive this award. On the Application Form, applicants will need to identify how they hope the SPA Annual Meeting will benefit their career development as an assessment psychologist. First time attendees of the SPA Annual Meeting are especially encouraged to apply.

ANNUAL MARY S. CERNEY MEMORIAL AWARD
Given by the Society for Personality Assessment for Outstanding Student Paper on Personality Assessment
Deadline: July 1 (each year)


The Mary S. Cerney Student Award is given to the best personality assessment paper prepared by a student over the previous year. The student is expected to attend the SPA Annual Meeting to receive the award. The student receives a certificate, $300 towards Annual Meeting transportation, one night’s lodging, and has the registration fee for the meeting waived.

ANNUAL DISSERTATION GRANT AWARD
Deadline: November 15 (each year)

The Society makes awards up to $500.00 to support dissertation research in the area of personality assessment. The student’s dissertation proposal must have been approved by her/his committee before applying for the award; the student must be a Student Affiliate of SPA, or may apply for Student Affiliate at the time of the Dissertation Award application; and the proposal must be sponsored by a member of SPA. It is expected that the student will present the results of the dissertation at a forthcoming Annual Meeting of SPA. Applicants may also expect to receive committee review feedback on their proposal.

Student Travel Grants: The Board of Trustees has established the Student Travel Grants to help students attend the SPA Annual Meetings to present their work. The SPA Board considers this to be a very important activity in a student’s development.
