Professional Bio
Joel L. Carr, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Director, D.S.W. program in Clinical Social Work and B.S. program in Sociology, in the Department of Social Work and Sociology, Archer College of Health and Human Services, Angelo State University, located in San Angelo, Texas. Dr. Carr has worked in inpatient psychiatric facilities, community behavioral health centers, inpatient forensic hospitals, private clinical practice, and in higher education. In October 2011, Dr. Carr honorably discharged from the United States NAVY Reserve as a Medical Service Corps Officer with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. His professional interests include Assessment, Tests, and Measures; Clinical Social Work and Counseling; Correctional Mental Health; Differential Diagnosis and Psychopathology; Healthcare Process Improvement; Personality Assessment, Development, and Disorders; Psychoeducational and Career Assessment; and Social Psychology (Role Theory, Self and Identity, Social Structure and Personality, Structural Symbolic Interactionism).
