Professional Bio
Dr. Russell joined the faculty of Sam Houston State in August 2020. She graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2013 with a BA in psychology and forensic science. She received her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of North Dakota in 2018. Her mentor in graduate school was Dr. Alan King. Dr. Russell completed her predoctoral clinical internship training at Harvard Medical School & McLean Hospital’s Behavioral Health Partial Program. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School & McLean Hospital’s Fernside Signature Recovery Program, which is a residential dual diagnosis treatment facility. At Fernside, she worked with patients suffering from substance use, personality, mood, anxiety, and affective disorders. Dr. Russell is a licensed clinical psychologist in Texas. Her clinical specialties include forensic assessment and empirically-supported individual psychotherapy for personality disorders, substance use disorders, anxiety, and bipolar disorders.
