Equality Texas
For over 30 years, Equality Texas has worked to secure full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Texans though political action, education, community organizing, and collaboration.
Our four primary impact areas are expanding opportunity for all through non- discrimination protections, protecting LGBTQ+ youth, supporting and uplifting transgender Texans and ensuring LGBTQ+ families are safe from discrimination.
Incorporated in 1990, Equality Texas Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving as the largest nonpartisan statewide political advocacy organization working for the elimination of discrimination targeting the LGTBQ+ community.
Equality Texas Foundation’s programs are designed to meet individuals where they are in their advocacy journey, providing the issue education and skill-building training necessary to confidently exercise activists’ individual and collective power to advance LGBTQ+ rights and fight anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in Texas. Our programs increase visibility and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues among members of the LGBTQ+ community and the general public, move public opinion toward support for equality, and create the conditions for achieving positive public policy."
Texas Advocacy Project
Texas Advocacy Project (TAP) provides FREE legal and social services to survivors of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, child abuse, stalking, and human trafficking across Texas.
TAP believes in a holistic approach that includes both solutions and prevention. Our solutions consist of legal, social, and advocacy services proven to break the cycle of violence and get victims to safety. We provide effective legal and social services like protective orders, termination of abusers’ parental rights, and child-custody modifications, as well as assistance with civil issues that affect abuse cases such as housing, employment, education, and financial empowerment. Our experienced attorneys and social workers guide and advocate for survivors through the entire process, and our services are always completely FREE!
In an effort to advance our vision that all Texans live free from abuse, we serve ALL Texans without regard to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, immigration status, or any other distinction.
Our team extends its impact through prevention work consisting of a network of outreach and training to the public and those that work with survivors.
The Other Ones Foundation
THE OTHER ONES FOUNDATION is a philanthropic organization that welcomes Austin’s homeless neighbors into engaged community through shelter, opportunity, and support. At TOOF we are all about the marginalized. The vulnerable. Those ‘other ones’ living on the fringes. We believe in the extraordinary value of every human life, and that every person is designed for fullness.Since 2017 TOOF's entrepreneurial approach, has created a $1.5 million workforce development program for persons facing homelessness in partnership with the City of Austin.
Currently THE OTHER ONES FOUNDATION is building a transformational shelter community called, ESPERANZA. This community will have 200 individualized shelter cabins configured into 4 “neighborhoods” with wrap around supportive services and opportunities that create traction toward stable employment and housing.
