Benjamin Rubin, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist who specializes in forensic psychology as well as assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Rubin received his Psy.D. in Combined School-Clinical Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Yeshiva University. He completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut and post-doctoral fellowships in psychoanalysis at the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute as well as the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. Dr. Rubin has taught courses including Research Methods and Personality Assessment, and supervised student trainees. His research interests include forensic applications of the Rorschach and adjudicative competency evaluations. Dr. Rubin has presented at national and international professional conferences on practical applications of psychoanalytic theory, psychological testing, faith, ethics, and forensic mental health assessment.
Dr. Rubin served as a psychologist in the New York State Office of Mental Health for approximately 6 years in child/adolescent, adult and forensic settings. In 2020, Dr. Rubin was appointed Director of Forensic Services at Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY, a role that he held until 2022. As Director of Forensic Services, Dr. Rubin held administrative oversight of treatment for insanity acquitees (inpatient and outpatient) and adults referred inpatient from the Department of Corrections. Additional responsibilities included regulatory oversight to ensure compliance with CPL 730 (competency to stand trial), standing chair of the Hospital Forensic Committee, lead forensic evaluator and hospital consultant for violence and sexual violence risk.
Dr. Rubin conducts evaluations and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults in independent practice at Comprehensive Psychological Services, LLC.
