How to Review Journal Articles (and other issues in journal editing)

Abstract

How do you write a peer review of a manuscript submitted to a journal? And what happens to that peer review when you submit it? And what do corresponding editors, associate editors, and editors (in chief) have to do with this (and how does one get / why would one want these jobs)? And while we’re on the topic, how do I respond to reviewer comments on papers I submit to journals (especially those by Reviewer #2) so I can get my research published (in outlets like Journal of Personality Assessment)? Addressing these and other questions will be the focus of this roundtable discussion, which will be composed of experienced editors and associate editors of a range of journals focused on or adjacent to personality assessment. This session is intended not only for students and early career scholars new to reviewing/editing, but also for later career researchers who want to refine their editing skills (and/or have wisdom to contribute). If you have questions, please bring them to ask the roundtable!
