Implementation and Training of the AMPD Model Incorporating Dimensional Personality Models into Stud
SPA E-Learning Center | 2025 SPA Convention
Abstract
Continuing its commitment to the professional development of graduate students, the Society for Personality Assessment Graduate Student (SPAGS) Education Committee is organizing a symposium to discuss the Alternative Model of Personality Disorders (AMPD) and its clinical utility when training clinicians at various stages of development (e.g., first year clinicians, interns). This symposium aims to provide a brief review of the AMPD model and then will walk attendees through how to teach trainees strategies for case conceptualization and treatment planning that incorporates the AMPD. The panel of experts will discuss the implementation of the AMPD in training settings, barriers to this, and next steps towards increasing use of this model as a core part of clinical training for budding psychologists. Time will be reserved at the end for graduate students and professional attendees to have the opportunity to ask experts their questions pertaining to incorporating the AMPD into their clinical training.
