Three extremely interesting legal cases are discussed in this session. Each case helps to demonstrate the unique perspective from which the Rorschach test can provide the evaluator with insight into the psychological functioning of the person being evaluated. Dr. Corine de Ruiter will begin the session by presenting the case of a 17-year-old girl who violently assaulted an 82-year-old woman by stabbing her with scissors. Dr. Madeleine Starin will then discuss the case of a 15-year-old boy charged with an alleged hate crime with the aggravated penalty of threat of death or serious bodily injury. Next, Dr. Abraham Loebenstein will describe the case of a 27-year-old man who was alleged to have killed his roommate's dog, physically restrained his roommate against her will, and assaulted her. Finally, Dr. Nancy Kaser-Boyd will lead the discussion and provide insight into the usefulness of a psychological assessment that takes a multi-method approach.
