Acklin Bio

Dr. Acklin is a clinical, assessment and forensic psychologist practicing in Hawaii since 1989. Dr. Acklin is board certified in three psychological specialties: clinical, assessment and forensic psychology. After moving to Hawaii in 1988 to take a job as Chief Psychologist and Director of Clinical Training at the Queen’s Medical Center, he has been in full time independent practice in Honolulu since 1990. He has conducted over 3000 psychological evaluations, over 700 court ordered forensic mental health evaluations, and 325 child custody evaluations in state, Federal, military, and immigration courts. Dr. Acklin is an FAA-qualified neuropsychologist and a Special Medical Consultant to the FAA Flight Surgeon. Dr. Acklin is a specialist in law enforcement and airline transport pilot personnel selection. Dr. Acklin has been qualified as an expert witness in the areas of custody evaluations and civil and criminal forensic psychological evaluations over 200 times. He has published over 40 peer reviewed articles and chapters in the area of assessment psychology, forensic psychological assessment, and presented at local and national conferences in the area of clinical and forensic psychology. Dr. Acklin is a Fellow of three divisions of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Personality Assessment. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the John A. Burns School of Medicine.
