Leadership Ballot
The voting period for the open 2024 SPA Leadership positions is still open! This year open positions include President-Elect and two positions for Representative-at-Large.
You can now review all the candidate statements and CV's here. For security purposes, you must log into your SPA Member Profile first to view the information.
Ballot must be submitted by September 21, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET!
2024 Program & Paper Proposals
We welcome everyone to submit a proposal for our 2024 SPA Convention in San Diego, CA regardless of background, expertise level, or membership type. This is an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge and connect with like-minded professionals.
We're seeking a variety of engaging programs, and your valuable contribution could take form of:
- Case Discussions
- Roundtable Discussions
- Symposia
- Papers
- Posters
Submission Guidelines
There are no strict guidelines for program submissions, however, abstracts must stay under 500 words. We invite you to present your ideas creatively and passionately in a way that resonates with the audience.
Join us in making the 2024 SPA Convention a memorable and insightful event for all attendees. We look forward to receiving your program proposals and appreciate your active participation in our SPA Community.

Diversity-Sensitive Assessment with the MMPI-3

This advanced, two-hour webinar is intended for psychologists familiar with the MMPI instruments and interested in learning about conducting diversity-sensitive assessments with the latest version, the MMPI-3. The webinar will include a brief overview of the MMPI-3, a review and discussion of literature pertaining to use of the MMPI instruments with members of various demographic groups in the United States, a review of cross-national adaptations of the MMPI instruments, and recommended best practices for diversity-sensitive assessment with the MMPI-3.

Grants
SPA Dissertation and Student Research Grant process is still open.
This is a great opportunity for you to explore your dissertation/research ideas and contribute to the field of personality assessment. Applicants will have until October 13th to submit their applications including any supplemental documents. We're excited to see the innovated ideas you propose. For additional information on each grant, please visit this page. Please share with a student who might be interested in either of these grants.
Dissertation Grant
- These Grants of up to $800 dollars must have an approved dissertation proposal before applying.
Student Research Grant
- These Grants of up to $500 dollars are open to undergraduate or graduate students in psychology or related fields.

Forensic Social Hour
SPA’s Forensic Interest Group is hosting a virtual social hour between 1pm and 2pm (EST) on Friday, September 15th. Bring your favorite beverage and join us for a fun hour of conversation and business. You can find a more detailed list of topics below.
Topics to be covered:
- Co-Chair and attendee introductions
- What members are hoping from their membership
- Topic areas of interest/struggles/deficits/importance in the field of forensic psychology
- Ideas such as sharing forensic assessment resources on social platform

- Training: Join Dr. Kari Carstairs, an SPA Fellow since 2012, for a three hour introductory webinar in September (which will repeat in October) that will cover the Comprehensive System-Revised.
