MAC Welcome Reception & Film Screening

SPA will be hosting a reception and film screening to kick off the 2023 Multicultural Assessment Conference. The filmmakers, Corbin Coleman and Charles Crouch, will be in attendance to discuss their film, Understanding Black Male Depression, which highlights how depression is often experienced but rarely talked about. SPA Dissertation and Student Research Grant process is closing soon!
This is a great opportunity for you to explore your dissertation/research ideas and contribute to the field of personality assessment. Applicants will have until October 13th to submit their applications including any supplemental documents. We're excited to see the innovated ideas you propose. For additional information on each grant, please visit this page. Please share with a student who might be interested in either of these grants.
Dissertation Grant
- These Grants of up to $800 dollars must have an approved dissertation proposal before applying.
Student Research Grant
- These Grants of up to $500 dollars are open to undergraduate or graduate students in psychology or related fields.

Scholarships
Last month, SPA opened three different scholarships for our 2024 SPA Convention. IF you have already applied or are interested in applying please DO NOT register for the Convention until notices have been sent out in December. Click on scholarship name below to apply.
- Student Scholarship | This $430.00 scholarship award includes a complimentary member early-bird rate registration and one night hotel. International applicants may be awarded an additional travel stipend of up to $400 depending on the stated need and the number of applications received.
- Diversity Scholarship | This scholarship awards up to $1,100 which includes a complimentary member early-bird rate registration, one night hotel, and up to $500 for reimbursable expenses
- Early-Career Scholarship | This $650.00 scholarship award includes a complimentary member early-bird rate registration and one night hotel. International applicants may be awarded an additional travel stipend of up to $800 depending on the stated need and the number of applications received.

Community Events & News
- MAC Event: The third annual Multicultural Assessment Community Conference (MAC 2023) will be held October 12th - 14th. The conference features two full days of virtual sessions on key topics central to the treatment of diverse populations. All programming supports MAC's goal of: Advancing the field toward Unity, Justice, and Equity. Society for Personality Assessment members will receive a discounted rate of $175. - Call for Papers: It is with great pleasure that the Organizing Committee for the XXIV Congress of the International Society for the Rorschach and Projective Methods can announce the Call for papers. We are excited to receive papers from all over the world and look forward to both oral presentations, symposia and posters to the congress that is held in Copenhagen, Denmark in July 2024. - Training: Join Dr. Kari Carstairs, an SPA Fellow since 2012, for a three hour introductory webinar in September (which will repeat in October) that will cover the Comprehensive System-Revised.
